Fluoridation
I made it a practice to give my children an incentive to have a cavity-free report from the dentist, usually $5.00, plus a special treat. I also taught them to at least rinse their mouth vigorously after breakfast, lunch and dinner, if they didn’t have time to brush on those occasions. It was amazing how well my children complied and had very few cavities. The Hygiene class in school never taught children to brush, or rinse their mouth after every meal. With the unhealthy ½ hour lunch-time imposed, children don’t have time to digest their food, or even rinse their mouth.
Pinellas County School Study
Letter to the editor:
The Pinellas School Board already had a study in 2005 which indicated that the 'achievement gap' was similar in other Florida districts. Another proposed 'external' study to revisit that 2005 premise is therefore not necessary. What is necessary, is an internal study to define the reasons, if any, that black students are not acheiving as well as other groups 'within' the Pinellas System.
LTE $80 Billion Stimulus.wps
$80 Billion Stimulus Bailout to cost U.S. taxpayers $16B’ June 29th 2011
It is reckless for the Obama administration to say it is ‘great news for America’, that of the $80 Billion bailout that his administration gave auto makers Chrysler and General Motors, only $64 Billion will be paid back to the U.S. taxpayers.
Obama should’ve required the automakers to pay it all back, no matter how long it takes. If you don’t think this ‘fuzzy math’ is crazy, you should stop drinking the Kool-Aid and get a psychiatric evaluation.
EMS/Firefighters
The Dual-Response EMS debacle
The present Dual-Response EMS System of firemen paramedics ($70 per hour for firemen, plus $110 per hour for Sunstar equals a total of $180 per hour) is unconscionable. The County’s statistics, and everyone who has called 911, know that the firemen always arrive first! It doesn’t take an Einstein to figure that the ambulances should be housed at the Fire House, instead of our County-contracted Sunstar ambulances idling and wasting gas at the local 711 stores.

'Marines' Act Rebuked
By Philip Tropea, Republican Candidate House District 48

Dear Afghan President Karzai,
So you think marines are 'simply inhuman'.?
What do you call the Taliban that you want to negotiate with that chop the heads off of your countrymen and ours, such as Nick Berg, and a benign reporter like Danny Pearl whose wife had just given birth?
This is one way I can put it. You have a cop shutting down a lemonade stand run by kids. You have the TSA setting up a stop and search for people GETTING OFF a train. They do this for many reasons, but foremost, they do it because they feel OK doing it. They are not apprehensive about acting the way they do. They are not uncomfortable acting the way they do. My project is designed to take away that social comfort zone.It is NATIONWIDE, and participation is free and easy. The success of the project will not be easy, but if enough people participate, it will work.
