Fluoridation
I made it a practice to give my children an incentive to have a cavity-free report from the dentist, usually $5.00, plus a special treat. I also taught them to at least rinse their mouth vigorously after breakfast, lunch and dinner, if they didn’t have time to brush on those occasions. It was amazing how well my children complied and had very few cavities. The Hygiene class in school never taught children to brush, or rinse their mouth after every meal. With the unhealthy ½ hour lunch-time imposed, children don’t have time to digest their food, or even rinse their mouth.
Pinellas County School Study
Letter to the editor:
The Pinellas School Board already had a study in 2005 which indicated that the 'achievement gap' was similar in other Florida districts. Another proposed 'external' study to revisit that 2005 premise is therefore not necessary. What is necessary, is an internal study to define the reasons, if any, that black students are not acheiving as well as other groups 'within' the Pinellas System.
LTE $80 Billion Stimulus.wps
$80 Billion Stimulus Bailout to cost U.S. taxpayers $16B’ June 29th 2011
It is reckless for the Obama administration to say it is ‘great news for America’, that of the $80 Billion bailout that his administration gave auto makers Chrysler and General Motors, only $64 Billion will be paid back to the U.S. taxpayers.
Obama should’ve required the automakers to pay it all back, no matter how long it takes. If you don’t think this ‘fuzzy math’ is crazy, you should stop drinking the Kool-Aid and get a psychiatric evaluation.
EMS/Firefighters
The Dual-Response EMS debacle
The present Dual-Response EMS System of firemen paramedics ($70 per hour for firemen, plus $110 per hour for Sunstar equals a total of $180 per hour) is unconscionable. The County’s statistics, and everyone who has called 911, know that the firemen always arrive first! It doesn’t take an Einstein to figure that the ambulances should be housed at the Fire House, instead of our County-contracted Sunstar ambulances idling and wasting gas at the local 711 stores.

'Marines' Act Rebuked
By Philip Tropea, Republican Candidate House District 48
Published Jan 14, 2012
Dear Afghan President Karzai,
So you think marines are 'simply inhuman'.?
What do you call the Taliban that you want to negotiate with that chop the heads off of your countrymen and ours, such as Nick Berg, and a benign reporter like Danny Pearl whose wife had just given birth?
Many taxpayers object to government welfare programs. But so long as the state is in the business of confiscating some people’s wealth and awarding it to others, most would agree that welfare payments should be given only to the truly poor.
College students — or at least the vast majority of them — do not live in poverty.
But earlier this month, the state of Michigan discovered that there were 30,000 college students receiving food stamps under a program called the Michigan Bridge Card.
Over the past 3-4 years, I have been working closely with many elected leaders in Washington. Rest assured, neither political party has any intention to ever balance the Federal Budget, or pay off the American national debt. Their solution is to continue to borrow more and more money to fund the government. They will then be forced to increase federal and state taxes. Then, the government will print more money as a last desperate measure to try to stay afloat.
This is an interesting editorial by the Washington Times this week. They are right on target as the Government continues to try to cover up that they are already bankrupt.
They stated, "The Obama administration has made history by presiding over the first-ever downgrade in the U.S. credit rating. President Obama has outdone all his predecessors in wrecking America’s good name. His answer to this problem: Spend even more.
